TROY — Hail, hail to Casey Hall.

Bradford County’s fair royalty will reign over the state.

Casey, 17, of Roaring Branch, the 2009 Troy Fair Queen, has been named the 2010 Pennsylvania State Fair Queen.

She competed against 59 other fair queens for the state title. "I am thrilled to represent Pennsylvania as the fair queen. I can’t wait for my upcoming year. It’s going to be wonderful."

"I came in, I was confident, I was myself…I guess that’s what really got it for me."

Casey, who is a senior at Canton High School and is an active member of the FFA, is the daughter of George and Jamie Hall of Roaring Branch.

During the competition, Casey gave a speech Saturday morning, and advanced to the top five and was asked a question — "Why someone should support the fair in these tough economic times?"

Her answer was, "you should support agriculture and our fairs because without agriculture, there’s no food, no shelter, or the essential things we need, and these are the things we should be supporting." She also said the fairs help the fair queens grow as young women.

She was announced as the winner after the evening gown competition.

It’s been quite a journey for Hall.

In 2008, she competed for the Troy Fair Queen pageant, and was named second runner-up. Then, in 2009, she again competed, and was successful, winning the title.

The closest the Troy Fair came to having a state fair queen was several years ago when the fair had a runner-up in the state competition, Marcia (Binford) Payne, who was from Alba.

Hall will travel to a lot of fairs and events throughout the state, and she also gets a $2,000 scholarship. She plans to attend Penn State University for bioengineering.
