Cattle supply included: 137 steers and heifers, 93 cows, 16 bulls and 57 feeder cattle.

 

Compared to last week’s sale; slaughter steers sold mostly 2.00 higher. Slaughter Holstein steers sold steady to 1.00 higher. Slaughter heifers were lightly tested. Slaughter cows sold steady to 1.00 lower. Feeder calves sold sharply higher. All prices per cwt.

 

Slaughter Cattle:

Slaughter Steers: High Choice and Prime 2-3 1345-1495 lbs 94.00-96.00; one 1585 lbs 93.75. Choice 2-3 1195-1565 lbs 89.50-94.00; one 1625 lbs 90.50. Select 1-3 1135-1400 lbs 84.25-89.00. Standard 1-2 1080-1215 lbs 79.50-83.00.

Report format change: Traditional markets refer to lambs that are subjected to USDA carcass grading, and marketed through mainstream outlets. Non-Traditional markets refer to lambs destined for slaughter outside of what would be termed as traditional markets.

Sheep and Lambs: Compared to last Monday, the bulk of slaughter lambs sold 5.00 to 8.00 higher. Demand good with moderate trade. Slaughter supply consisted of 69 percent lambs, 22 percent slaughter ewes, and 9 percent miscellaneous stock. All sheep and lambs are destined for non-traditional markets. All sheep and lambs are sold by the hundred weight, on actual weights.

Slaughter Goats: Compared to last Monday, slaughter goats sold mostly steady, with the exception of number 1 billies trending mostly 10.00 lower. Demand good with moderate trade. Goat supply consisted of 73 percent slaughter kids, 16 percent slaughter nannies, 8 percent slaughter billies, remainder miscellaneous stock. All goats are sold by the head, on estimated weights.
